About James
James Braun (he/him), MC
Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #23840)
Film was my first career. I started in 2005 and spent most of my twenties on sets. I still take film work part-time.
By my early thirties, I was ready for something different. I went back to school and completed my BA in Cognitive Systems, Cognition and the Brain at UBC.
During COVID I got sober. Therapy played a big role in making that possible, and in helping it actually last. Having someone in my corner who could really listen changed things for me in a way I hadn't expected.
Somewhere along the way, I realized I wanted to offer that same kind of presence to other people. To sit with them, hear their stories, and be the steady, non-judgmental space that had mattered so much to me.
So I went back to school again. I earned my Master of Counselling from City University of Seattle and now work as a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #23840) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.
I'm queer, and I work with a lot of queer and 2SLGBTQIA+ clients. Burnout and recovery aren’t things I just learned in school. They're part of my own story.
