How I work
I come into each session looking to meet you where you are, and to discover what you're bringing that day and what you want to work on.
Beyond my Master of Counselling, I'm currently a trainee in the year-long Compassionate Inquiry® Professional Program, developed by Dr. Gabor Maté and Sat Dharam Kaur ND. It's a way of working that pays close attention to what's happening in the present moment. What the body is holding, what story is running underneath the words, what old belief might be quietly shaping the whole thing. The inquiry is compassionate and patient, never clinical.
A few things you might want to know
On following your lead
I let you set the pace. Some sessions move fast and cover a lot. Others slow way down because something surfaced that wants attention. Both are the work.
On the body
I pay attention to what your body is doing, not just what you're saying. Sometimes a tight chest or a change in breathing tells us more than words do.
On being queer
I'm a queer counsellor, and I work with a lot of queer clients. You don't have to explain things that feel obvious to you but wouldn't be obvious to a straight therapist.
On "getting it right"
There isn't a right way to do therapy. You can talk or be quiet. You can come in with something to work on or come in with no idea what to say. Both are fine.
